Slacker Tips #223: The Art Of The Quick Cover-Up

Posted by: the complete slacker on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

As an effective slacker at work, you are probably accustomed to listening for people approaching your cubicle. Nothing can end the slacking at work quicker than someone coming up to your desk and catching you.

So, what do you do when you get surprised by someone approaching your desk?

You do the quick cover-up.

Just press ALT + F4 to immediately close the window that you have open on your computer. Keep in mind that if you are running Firefox from a thumb drive, like I do, it will not close without asking you if you want to save the open tabs. Just a warning.

CS,

I’ve just stumbled onto your site, and i must say, I am thoroughly impressed. I thought I may be alone on this planet, which was fine with me because if 99% of the population wasn’t too scared, proud, dumb, guilty or whatever to slack then it would work for us.

I’d like to have your email address, if possible, not to bombard you with crap, just a friendly exchange here and there, perhaps some questions.(For example, on the unemployment topic. I was wondering if a phoney voice mail and a few paystubs is enough to qualify you for a 26 week run. Whatta you think?)

You have done a great job here. I thank you very much.

P.S.
Have you ever had a word processor simply erase your work? It seems impossible yet it happened to me after I wrote 33 pages on how to “fake” your way through college. It talked about how to get ur parents to pay for your partying in the college town of your choice, how to actually teach yourself the major of your choice by googling the text book–skip the electives.

It gave tips like picking a school in Canada (close but another country so difficult to trace). I showed how to get fake transcripts and diploma and finally how to get over on the interview, very in depth. I don’t have the patience to write it out again.(I’m a slacker) lol

I’m only mentioning this because I thought you would appreciate it. lol I have actually formulated some good ideas since getting laid off, then going to school again only to find crap jobs. I have been living unemployed and as happy as ever for over a year now.

Much Love and Respect
Professor Plume
