Slacker Tip #215 – Sleep In At Home By Doing Morning Tasks At Work
For me, the epitome of slacking at work is using work time to free up time at home. You can easily do this yourself in the mornings.
If you can, keep a coffee maker at your desk (or drink the bad office coffee). This way you only need to have one cup at home and can drink the rest at work.
Eat your breakfast at work. Keep breakfast bars, fruit or cereal at your desk. Clock-in and then eat your breakfast while the other chumps are actually working. Try to look like you’re working at the same time. If anyone gives you any grief, just tell them you have low blood sugar and have to eat at certain times.
Read the morning paper at your desk if you can get away with it. I was able to do this for about 3 months at a job and only was told to stop because one of those do-gooders from another department walked by, saw me and complained to my boss. And I was reading that from front to back! An easy way to get away with this is if your boss likes sports, then just give the boss the sports section each morning. Then you both will be busy reading the paper!
Brush your teeth and floss in the bathroom at work after you have eaten your breakfast and read the paper.
Before you know it, you will have done an hour’s worth of morning tasks all on work time. Score!
