Being Sick Excuse #57 – Helping out with the oil spill
Do you have a boss that makes it difficult when you ask for time off? If so, I have the perfect excuse to get you out of work for at least a week.
This excuse works best if you have some Greenpeace or similar stickers on your car already.
Tell your boss that you are going down to the Gulf to volunteer for a week (longer?) with the oil spill cleanup and that you need to use some vacation time. I seriously doubt you will get a hard time for this.
When you get back, have a cough. Say you developed it while inhaling the fumes down there. Call in the next day with a headache and respiratory problems. Anyone that watches the news, or reads the news, will know this sort of thing is happening to people in the Gulf.
