Slacker Tip #213 – How To Get Away With Reading A Book At Work

Posted by: the complete slacker on Thursday, May 13th, 2010

If you don’t have internet access at work, or if you just want to do something that won’t get caught, you can try reading a book at work.

I know what you’re thinking. If you are reading a book at your desk, someone is bound to notice that the James Patterson novel is not work related. Well, relax, we’re not that stupid here at Complete Slacker.

Here is what you do.

Take whatever book you are currently reading or want to read over to the office copy machine. Make sure no one sees you doing this. Photocopy 20 or 30 or so pages of the book that you want to read. Put your book in your bag and photocopies on your desk. They will look like any other paper on your desk.

This means that you can read your book and no one will even know!

Great tip. Here’s an even better one. Download e-books in PDF format to a Flash drive. Use Adobe reader to read them on your computer. Press Alt+tab to switch to another program like Excel if anyone approaches. Good luck.
