Slacker tip #192 - Someone’s blocking me in
If you’re looking for an easy way to get out of up to a half day of work I have another great idea for that. This is a great excuse for instances when you want to do something like stand in line for concert tickets or be the first in line for the newest Playstation game.
This excuse will work best if you know in advance that you are going to want to come in late. But if not, it should still work.
Note: This excuse will only work if you live in an apartment or condo complex.
For this to be believable, you will need to call into work around the time that you would normally be leaving for work. Make it about 15 minutes past that time. So, if you normally leave home at 7:30, call in at 7:45.
You need to tell your boss that someone is blocking you in and you can’t get out. Tell the boss that you are going to try to find the owner of the vehicle if you can. And if not, that you will get your apartment office to tow the car when the arrive in the office. **It is best if it can be verified that your apartment or condo office does not open until 9 or 10 am. **
And then, you get to show up late without needing a doctor’s note.
If you live near someone else that you work with or near the workplace then this could backfire if they offer to pick you up. I once lived 15 minutes from work and called in with car problems and they sent someone to pick me up!
