Slacker tip #151- when an employer is onto your game
Getting paid to do nothing is sweet. Of course, there will come a time when your employer will be onto your game. And most of the time they let you know about it!
You see, sometimes they will just fire you when they realize they are paying you to do nothing.
But most times they are douches and instead warn you to shape up. It will go something like this - they will pull you aside and tell you that they have noticed that your productivity is not up to par. Then they will ask you some stupid questions.
- Are you having some problems?
- Do you need some help?
- Do you need some extra training?
- Why do you think you are having problems?
- What are you doing all day long?
When you start getting these questions it means one thingĀ - the free ride train is getting ready to pull into its last stop. So, you have two choices. You can continue to be a slacker and ride it out till the end or you can be a total douche and actually start working to save your sorry ass.
Me, I like to ride that train till the end.
But regardless of what you decide, your first action is the same.
You have to reassure them that you are committed to the job and will implement a renewed effort to do your best and work hard.
And like suckers, they will believe you.
