Slacker tip #145 – making your own fake paycheck stubs

Posted by: the complete slacker on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

A recent comment from a reader asked for help making your own fake paycheck stubs.

Apparently some douche bag is selling software out there to do this.

People – don’t be a fucktard and buy software to make paycheck stubs. Making your own paycheck stubs has to be the easiest thing in the world. All you need is a computer and some word processing software. And you can get that at Kinko’s or the library if you do not have your own.

Making your own paycheck stub is very simple. Just use an old paycheck stub for formatting and that is it.

Simple, yes? But highly effective.

I have made plenty of my own fake paycheck stubs in the past. You know, sometimes you need them for an apartment application or a car loan application.

Here’s some important advice – there is no universal format when it comes to paycheck stubs.

It’s true. And I should know as I have had lots of jobs!

And the smaller companies usually have limited info on the paycheck stubs, which is awesome.

Just remember not to put a phone number and address on it unless you have to. And if you do, then make sure that they are legitimate in the event that they are verified.

Update 3/12/10: Complete Slacker has partnered with the creator of the Paycheck Stub Template for download.

I just have one question about faking a paystub. What if you don’t have an old pay stub?

Kristin – you will need to find one to use as a guide because you do not want it to look fake!

kris Says:

Have old paystub, scanned it into word. 2 problems. First if you scan as document it formats all wrong and you end up wasting alot of time trying to get it to look right which is close to impossible. If you scan as picture, you can’t modify it.
What to do –what to do??

I understand for the most part about using an old paycheck stub as a template of sorts. But, what happens when say, an apartment management comp., checks my SS#? Is it a flag when my “employer” isn’t in my record?

the complete slacker Says:
June 9th, 2009 at 12:24 pm

An apartment mgmt company would likely just run your credit. The only way an employer gets on your credit report is if you applied for credit and listed that job. So it’s no big deal if the fake job is not on your credit report. Last year I got approved for an apartment using a fake check stub within one day. I did however put a real phone number on there and have my dad play the “employer.”

Im a county Magistrate in upstate NY.

What you are talking about is a Federal Crime under U.S law and is punishable by up to a $10,000 fine and/or 5 years inprisonment.

By Federal and most state laws and statutes It constitutes fraud anytime the proponent gains either financially or by priviledge : ie: credit approval, bank loan, or property lease.

so LOL @ the comment sent to “RW”
I’m sure using a fake paystub for certain things is NOT good… but there are things in life such as needing them for an apt etc. where it’s not really hurting anyone? I mean, I am in this sitch now. I have “unverifiable” income. I make what the rent would cost in 3 days lol… I’m able to pay rent, but I need a paystub to ‘prove it’ hopefully this apt complex will rely more upon my previous landlord references. (haha wich would be friends or relatives lmao… seriously j/k I do have good references.) anyway great thread.

Nothing too fancy. Times New Roman or Courier for the font. No special landscapes – just make it look like a regular, old boring paycheck stub.

I’ve been looking for a source to tell me the consequences of doing this. 10k sounds fair. 5 yrs inprisonment sounds scary just for an apartment! I would NEVER consider this for any type of bank loan or auto loan that is CRAZY. I had read online that rental fraud was only a civil matter not criminal so I’m confused now.

note2thewise Says:
May 1st, 2010 at 3:23 pm

For all the question heads on making a fake check stub—-YOU DO NOT SCAN IT BECAUSE IT REALLY DOESNT COME OUT RIGHT!!!! You need to view an old check stub to check out the format just as the slaker stated. You can then use Microsoft Excel and input the info from the old check stub on your new document!!!! Do not use fancy fonts!!!!

mickey22 Says:
June 11th, 2010 at 11:09 pm

So wat abt wen the bank call to verify the fake chck stub… How does that work? my job is through a temp agenncy so i couldnt get a auto loan because i was told it was only a temporary job. So i altered my check stub to say the name of the employer instead of the temp agency. Do you think it will work?

TRIPLE-L Says:
July 15th, 2010 at 6:24 am

You can purchase the box of check and check stubs at Office Depot, Staples, etc…..When you print your check stub use this paper and then tear off the perforated section which is the “stub”…..

Concerned Teacher Says:

This seems of use to 2 different groups of people.
1)individuals that have substantial amount of cash
that pay uncle sam no matter that their profession is possibly looked down upon, such as d-rug salesmen and adult escorts. There is a space for money accumilated from activities that you can fill out on your taxes, uncle sam just wants his money, and any accountant and tax guy will off the record tell you that it doesnt matter to irs how you “acquired” it.

2)The 2nd group
of individuals that do not pay taxes whom may have large amounts of money or not. this group doesnt have a tax proof of income to turn over to the realestate agent

(which to me real estate agents are in the same category as protitutes and lawyers, saying benifical terms “acreages, investment property”are bigger than they really are, and saying minor problems”mold shifting foundation” are smaller than they really are, just like boobs are bigger and tummy is smaller, satisfaction guarunteed(prositutes), criminal is innocent to a crime that is not violent reducing charges etc (lawyers). even accountants cook books, all these are illegal and fraudulent but amazing that they still take place and for PROFIT.

So if they can do it why not a “slacker” for non-profit unless you think having a nice apartment or house to rent (do not attempt if your buying a house a bank will call BS fast)
*this rant is geared towards people using this site for real etate.

Naysayers please keep in mind the amount of people that actually rent a place with a fake stub only to trash the place and move out is a very small exception, seeing how they dont want to go through the trouble of faking socially acceptable income and finding another place to live. Your not even allowed to put up a cash for a good faith hold on a home you want to purchase or use cash for a downpayment on a house with out being able to prove you made it from a company you work for. even though you earned the money they cant except it. fyi

back to my point this search is usually searched for by individuals who have the money but the profession is Risque or frowned upon, so they dont really have any stubs because the profession is off the books but uncle sam is still paid quarterly or yearly april 15th.

this leaves a large margin of people that need a decent place to live and yes hookers and drug dealers desire a safe place to live in a nice neighborhood. (dont forget Baby sitters, maids, handymen or Abused divorcees on the run that dont want paper trails because their husbands will find them..)To prove this to the real estate people which are shady with their inflation and overpriced houses. one must have something to prove they can make the rent.

other option is to pay upfront for the year but that will possibly give a redflag when you cant produce/prove on paper how you made the money.

also some people here may have lied to their parents loved ones, or even children, and told them they have a job. this excuse could be from someone who is humiliated at losing there job, or has been somewhere for a significant amount of time, and needs to account for it. by saying they were on a contract job etc.

so for the moral judges out there that came here to discredit this site and the people who use it, need to realize its more for A) a place to Live
how can you begrudge any fellow human being of that?
or B) to account for time they were missing from their parents, childs or spouses life for whatever reason; noble or not.

For the fearmongers visiting the site, just remember if someone were stupid enough to try to cash a fake check at a bank, or use a fake stub to submit to the irs or any govenrment entity… then they will get caught because those are the two major places that specialize in checks, and proof of income. It would be like impersonating a law officer at the local police department, meaning it would be a HUGE pinishible by law mistake.

money and jobs come and go but you must keep your integrity intact, thats all we have.
IF you dont have a place to sleep and have to take a risk and fake a stub or two so that you and family may have a place to sleep, but you have the money to pay for the place then i think the people here can understand and not judge so harshly.

This is coming from a person that goes every month to pay a water bill to an old lady that cant stand people that pay in person, and i think “its OUR birthright to have water for free anyways!” ” the earth is ours, and that this game called “employment” is slavery, as well as the term “bad credit” is to control peoples lives. Medical bills and 3 doctors coming into your hospital room through out the day to tell you something at the hospital is considered a dr consultation and I had to basically tell them they had to tell the nurse, and cant come in with out me approving it, because I exit hospital and 2 minutes of a doctor preaching from their Ivory Towers of Academia told me something that a nurse could have, then your credit is RUINED because you were in the hospital with no insurance, it just continues from there.

There is a reason why long hold times, and run arounds regarding fixing your credit or paying your credit. A reason why the credit card companys use to set up on campus to recruit kids they knew would be up to their eyeballs in student loans and book fees. What about the pharmacutical company that promotes these drugs and then 4 years later people found out the kids cleft palet, or disabilities are from these “trusted/established/great track record companies”

At the end people are just looking for a way to survive, its not always the “consumerist” looking to “mislead and lie” though that is what they are continously forced to do by every company they encounter, when corporations/companies do that its called marketing and advertising and is “legal” under their “terms and conditions” section. I dont think this playing field called life is even, its slanted in corporations and government favor.

If we judge anyone we need to try judging the companies and institutions for a change.

I say don’t do it. I tried with a car loan an the bank discovered that they were fake. (got thru whole process first.) an the car dealers threatened to arrest me if I didn’t return car. I returned car n got trade but not without legal threats of jail time, etc. In other words, don’t do it. Not worth the headache. But they did work for my new apartment lol
