Slacker tip #125 - sneaking writing at work #2

Another featured post from Dismantle My Bed blog. In the series of sneaking in writing at work, this indie author likes to utilize the breaks of her neighbors.

Want to know how she does this?

Here is the 4-1-1 on it…

Got a nosy co-worker in the cubicle across from yours? Of course you do! All cubicle neighbors are meddlesome bastards. But their meddling can occur only when they are present. That is why it is essential that you learn their schedule early and adjust yours accordingly.

Nosy cubicle neighbor go on break at nine?

You go at ten.

Do they go to lunch at noon?

Then you go at one.

Are they in the holiday planning committee?

Don’t join.

Whenever they are away from their desk for breaks, lunches and holiday committee meetings, this should be your most prolific writing time. Use it well.

But if you are thinking, I like to take lunch at noon and the holiday planning committee seems like fun, snap the fuck out of it. You must sort out your priorities if you want to get paid to write by a company who thinks they are paying you to process insurance claims.
