Slacker tip #101 - don’t live close to work or just don’t tell people if you do
Living close to work is something that I like to do because I seriously hate driving in rush hour traffic. I mean, really, why would I want to purposely get on the roads with all of the other idiots in the city at the same exact time? Simple - I don’t want to do that! So, for that reason I try to live close to work if I can. Of course, I change jobs like underwear, so it is a bit difficult to live near a job.
Anyways, I do not recommend living close to work because once people know that you live close then it makes it hard to call in. Sure, you can call in sick just fine. But you can’t call in because your car won’t start because you’re so close that some jackass will volunteer to come and pick your ass up. You don’t want that. I have actually had that happen to me before. That is how I learned this lesson. See the favor I am doing you peeps?
If you do decide to live close to the office, just make sure you do not let anyone know about it. If you work in a small office there is a pretty decent chance that someone will see your address and then they will ask you about it and then you are screwed. So, if you work in a pretty good sized office you probably have nothing to worry about. Unless the payroll or HR person that would see your address is banging your boss. Then you both get screwed.
