Slacker tip #67 - a surefire sign that you won’t be able to get away with doing nothing
Yesterday I had a job interview. I did not really know anything about the place as a staffing agency was sending me there. All they gave me was the name of the person I was interviewing with and a website address.
When I pulled up the website I noticed that it was a place that was religion-affiliated. They were a non-profit and every other word on the website was “God” which is fine with me except that I knew this would mean no slacking. In my experience places like this are filled with a lot of scripture talk and whatnot so that you do not even get to take your breaks by yourself.
But I went to the interview anyways.
Then I heard one of the key phrases that tells me that the job is all work and no goofing off.
“You will find that this job is very rewarding.”
To which I wanted to reply, “Only if I get to wear shorts every day and do nothing but play Texas Hold’Em online. AND Jenna Jameson shows up at the company picnic.”
Instead I smiled my best Oscar-winning smile and replied, “It’s always refreshing to work for a place that offers such meaning in what you do and that is really hard to find these days.”
Then we prayed.
Okay, not really.
