Operation: Get Unemployment is officially over

Posted by: the complete slacker on Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Exactly one month ago to the day I made a post on how I was going to start a series focusing on how to get unemployment with a temp job. I told you how I was hoping to make the quest into a 12-step program and how it’s easier to get unemployment from a temp job than a regular job.

In tip #1, I showed you how I was making my own schedule at work and got reprimanded for it. Score!

In tip #2, I showed you how it’s always effective to make tardy your middle name and be late. A lot. I also told you how I was being asked to stay at the company through a staffing agency transition. And then I wondered what the heck it takes to get fired these days.

In tip #3, I showed you how I put the plan on the fast track and made sure I was seen spinning around in my chair and staring at the ceiling.

And today, with much glee, I report to you that I have officially been let go! I’m really quite ecstatic about the whole thing. I’ll experience a one week waiting period before my unemployment kicks in. Once it kicks in I can sit back and collect unemployment for 26 weeks or about 6 months. Ah, the good life.

I  had a feeling that today was gonna be the day. I’ll share with you some things that happened that you can use as clues that you’re about to get fired when you start your quest. But remember, you should only do this with a temp job or you won’t be eligible for unemployment payments.

Since I achieved my 12-step program in only 3 steps a celebration is in order! Stay tuned as I announce a contest early next week in honor of my soon-to-be-collecting-unemployment greatness. Enjoy your 3-day weekend. Oh wait, that’s just me. Suckers!
