Temp jobs & getting unemployment, tip #3 - let them see you doing nothing

Sometimes it gets frustrating when you are trying your very hardest to get fired and no one seems to even notice.

Okay, so they noticed me making up my own schedule, but that’s about it. They didn’t say a word about me being late. So, I started leaving early for the day. Like an hour or two early and not telling anyone. That they noticed!

My boss sent me an email that her boss sent her wondering why I was leaving at 3:15 pm. My boss had forwarded me that email and asked me why I had left as she did not have me down on the calendar as having a “special circumstance” on that day.  What did I do? What any good slacker does that’s trying to get unemployment. Be a smug bastard. I wrote her back and apologized for not being able to schedule feeling bad in advance, which was why I left. She replied that next time I need to at least email someone if I am leaving. I didn’t reply to her.

Since that didn’t get me fired I decided to fast-forward the plan and make my doing nothing so obvious that they could not avoid it.

I leaned my chair back and stared at the ceiling today. For most of the day. And sometimes when people walked by I spun my chair around in a circle. It was good fun, but it made me a little dizzy. But people definitely saw me. And by people I mean the tattle-tales, which are the important ones in this case.

Here’s to unemployment! God let it be soon!
