Slacker tip #30 - the Fake Phone Call 3000™
If you’re like me, you can hear the waddling of your boss as she makes her way down the hall. While this makes my monitor on my desk vibrate back and forth, resulting in mild nausea due to my susceptabilty to motion sickness it IS a good thing because I know to look busy. But sometimes looking busy just isn’t enough. That’s when you break out the Fake Phone Call 3000™.
When you hear the boss or someone else coming your way, pick up the phone and begin talking into it as if you are talking to a customer. Remember that personal calls won’t have quite the same effect here - but customers works perfectly. They won’t interrupt you because customers = money. Rinse and repeat.
