Slacker tip #22 - Have an ‘almost dead’ relative
Need a day or afternoon off and don’t want to deal with the possibility of needing to make your own doctor’s note? Have an almost dead relative!
This is most effective if you can get a call at work and then go to your boss and say ‘I need to go to the hospital because my ->insert relative here<- is in the hospital and they've called in the family in because they don't think he/she's gonna make it'
Bonus points if you can start to tear up while you're standing there. Crying on cue is always an asset.
Of course, you could also call in with the same excuse. You boss won't think anything of it because people do not joke about death. Well, most people that is.
As a bonus, you can actually kill off the relative to get another day down the week off for the 'funeral' that you'll have to go to. But be prepared to have to bring in an obituary for this one.
