Being sick excuse #5 - strep throat
Excuse – Strep throat
Symptoms - Severe and sudden sore throat without coughing, sneezing, or other coldlike symptoms, Pain or difficulty with swallowing., Fever over 101 F; Swollen lymph nodes in the neck, White or yellow spots or coating on the throat and tonsils., Bright red throat or dark red spots on the roof of the mouth at the back near the throat.
Limitations –Antibiotics clear this up in 24-48 hrs.
Time – Max mileage for this one would be to leave work early to “go to doctor” and then call work next morning to tell them you have strep and that the dr. gave you 48 hrs before you are not contagious. Typically though doctors give you a 24 hour note for work.
Dialogue – All you need to say is that you had a sore throat and a high fever. Who hasn’t had strep? They’ll be with you on this one.
Frequency - You really shouldn’t do this more than a couple of times a year. Just pay attention to when others are out with it.
Action – Say that you went to the doctor and were told to stay home for 24 (or 48) hours. Everyone knows that you have to have antibiotics to clear up strep, so be prepared to use my fake doctor’s note.
Notes - This will most likely require a doctor’s note saying that you are to be out for 24-48 hours.
