Slacker tip #19 - more on stopping your phone from ringing
There are some sneaky companies that make it diffifult for you to stop your phone from ringing. At my job, the cable that brings network and internet access plugs into the phone, then a cable runs from the phone to my computer. If I unplug the phone, I have no internet access. See how that could be a problem?
I really don’t want my phone to ring. And I really don’t want to be without internet access.
The solution? Forwarding your phone.
Yesterday, I walked around until I discovered an empty cubicle with a phone. I wrote down that extension and then forwarded my phone to it. Voila, no more phone calls!
Today, the thought occurred to me that there could be an overachiever nearby that might actually answer that phone. So, I have employed a new solution. Forwarding my phone to the fax machine! Once someone gets that horrible screeching noise on the other end of the phone they will be sure to discard my number.
