Slacker tip #18 - volunteer to do the mail
Volunteering to take care of your department’s mail is one of the easiest ways to be a slacker at work. You can look like a real team player and overachiever by volunteering to do something that is not part of your job description, when in reality you are doing so because it means FIELD TRIP!
At my last job, we had a mail bin in our department that had to be taken downstairs and outside each day. I volunteered to be the person in charge of this task. I was practically given a gold star for this. I made a 10 minute task take 30-45 minutes each day.
What is even better is if you can volunteer to help out in the mailroom at your office each day. This should easily net you 1-2 hours of time away from your desk. And again, you look like a saint for volunteering. Bonus if the person in the mailroom is a hottie.
