Being sick excuses #3 – sorry, no hot water!
Want to go into work good and late? Ever woken up to discover that for some insane reason you have no hot water? I have. And it sucks. But it did teach me that no one wants you to come into work all greasy and unshowered, so when you tell them that you have no hot water and are waiting for the plumber, they will understand when you say you’ll be in as soon as you can shower.
This excuse will only be good, at the most, until 2pm-ish. If you really wanna work it more than that into a full day, then you could call your work back around 2pm-ish and say you just talked to the guy, he’s on the other side of town but is on his way and with that in mind you honestly do not know if he will be done in time for you to shower and get to work before 5pm. I have used this and it has worked. However, if you work at a place that doesn’t mind people working past 5pm, then you will not be able to stretch like this as chances are they will want you to come in whenever you get cleaned up.
Just remember to google what can make that happen so that when you return to work and they ask you what was wrong with it you can throw out some lingo.
